No lights in the instrument panel?
Hi, Just bought a Mk1 Karmann Cabriolet. When I went to check that all the lights worked the other night, I found that nothing lit up on the instrument panel, speedo etc. The indicator lights flash as does the temp gauge. I had a look at the fuses but they all seem to be ok. Has a bulb gone? If so, is it difficult to replace? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

No, I think its a bulb or fuse. Does anyone know what fuse corresponds to the dash lights?

make sure that the board has no corrosion or breaks. a lot of trouble stems from water getting onto back and causing a short circuit.
fuses are ok and the bulbs can be seen if you remove the panel itself.

got mine fixed. where the bulbs on the top of the unit fit it found that the holes were slightly too big and the bulbs weren't making contact. it's amazing what you can do with tin foil and sticky tape!! blue peter eat your heart out.

How do I go about checking the bulbs? Are they hard to get to? Can someone possibly walk me through getting to the bulbs. Cheers

Fairly easy, take out the clocks, look on the back and you will see where there bulbs plug in. Two of them are located in the top two corners of the pod, the third, for the mfa, or whatever you have there is located at the centre of the bottom of the clocks. A 1/4 - 1/2 turn and they will pop out.
