Mk1 gti no electrics and not starting
Hey
I tried to start the mk1 one today, I put a fresh battery on and turned the key but i was greeting by nothing. There were no lights, wipers, nothing apart from the heaters [:s]
I didnt take a wire brush or sand paper to clean any connections. The fule pump didnt prime and the starter didnt turn.
When I tried to turn it over the clock on the dash would just ficker off. When I tried to use the hazards it would do a simular thing, any Ideas?
Cheers
Craig

I took another battery down today and my multimeter the original one had 8 whatevertheyarecalled and the one i took today had 6 "volts/amps"
both batterys have been standing but they both worked last time i tried along time ago
It was exactly the same thing with both nothing at all not even lights I'll see if i can find a decent battery or one of them jump starter packs
Cheers guys

stick them on charge thats no way near enough power , how old are the batteries ? can you top up the fluid in them ? most new ones are sealed .
good batt as you know should sit at about 12.5 volts and about 13-14 volts when charging in the car .
