Lights flickering

My lights have been flickering ever since I got the car (front & Back) - it has passed it's MOT like this so I never worried too much about it. I just put it down to being a old car!
Last night a "friendly copper" came over to me at a Petrol Station and pointed the flickering lights out to me and said that I should get it sorted out.

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be and what I can do to get it sorted?

sounds like the voltage regulator on the alternator - only a tenner to change, or it could be the alternator it self, but change the cheaper option first!

As above. Voltage regulator. Just done mine to cure the same problem. Take the old one out and look at the bushes. If they are less than 10mm (ish) or near that then it needs replacing.
