JBL GTO 6426E speaker fitting

Anyone else had problems fitting these speakers?

I bought 2 sets for front and rear

The problem was that if you look at the speaker cone, there is a 5mm raised lip all around the edge of it which the originals don't have. So this pushed the speaker cone further away from the speaker grill

The plastic pegs in the door pockets and rear parcel shelf supports are then a bit too short to properly attach the speakers to

or is it just me?

I've got these in front and rear.

Had them fitted for a while now but don't seem to remember any issues fitting them.

It maybe that i had to remove the lip!

They do fit though.

I bought some of these last week, i've only had a quick look at fitting them but it looked like i'll have to notch a little more out of the doorcard to take the larger magnets. I can't comment on rear fitting as mines a Jetta.

I just got some of these for the rear parcel shelf supports. How do they fit on to the 4 'pegs' sticking out under the support?

They can't just push on surely else they would just fall off again after a few spirited B-road blasts? Or am I missing some clips that go over the pegs?

Cheers  :dontknow:

Had a look at another mk1, the speakers are held in place by push-on captive clips that 'bite' into the plastic pegs.

Anyone know where I might find some? www.comdir.co.uk do them but I only need 8 not 100!
