its just changing a light bulb....or is it?..

Hi there,

I am new here, but it seems like this section of the forum is where i need to start…
Just a Mk1 cabby from my dad as it was a project he never finished, and he tells me that the front right indicator doesnt work. No problem I think…
However, changing the bulb didnt fix it, oh, and the fog lights dont work either.
And some further investigation found a few other wiring 'features'…

The oil warning light flashes continuously, although all oil levels are fine. However, this does stop flashing if I put the high beams on!… (problem solved?!   )

If the headlights are on at all, then the speedo instantly cuts out and the needle drops to zero.

So, looks like there is a bit to do. The indicator is the first thing to fix. Any suggestions as to the best way to fix this?

Cheers

Rob

Best thing with electrical faults is take your time, get yourself a multimeter so you can see what voltage if anything is present in the wiring, and take a logical approach.

As you have several electrical faults, I would first check the connections at the battery and the main earthing points on the car before doing anything else. Take them off, little bit of sandpaper or wire brush to clean them up, and put them back together nice and tightly. If there's no improvement then move onto a step by step approach to each fault.
