Instrumentation wire notes

Can anyone tell me where the blue/grey instrumentation wire goes to on the fuse box in my 82 1.6gti?

Im fed up with the lights not working so was going to wire it to the switched ignition feed, any problems with doing that?

I also have a grey wire coming out and going into a connector block what do you reckon this could be?

been asking the very same question mate , no joy yet . think i need to get the haynes and have a look myself.

not sure that this wire does but i do know mine was down to earth , if you cut/disconnect this at the fuse box then the lights may well come back on .

what state is your dimmer switch in ? as this is a short the dimmer had drawn too much currrent and cooked itself check this too . i have linked this out for full brightness *** do not do this unless you are sure the wires are not to earth as you may cause a fire ***

bullet fuses,

stangley first lights and rear lights are now working but without the instrumentation lights (as before they would go and come back together).
