Im going mad.... mk1 golf electrical problem
Hi all i have had a look around but i cant find an answer to my problem, you would make my day if you could shed some light on these problems.
my indicators dont work but the hazards do, i have checked all the fuses and tryed the trick with the hazard light switch, I have also changed the hazard switch and changed the indicator stalk assembley……
the oil light flashes when running
the temp light flashes when running
when the head lights are on the dipped beam shows full beam on the dash and visa versa
when i move the dash light level adjust the main beam light goes out and the oil light comes on.
i am going out of my mind with trying to work out what the problem is.
any help would be great
Thanks Mark

Hi mate,
Bit of a long shot, try all the earth points even the one in the boot. I had mental time trying to sort out a wiring problem and discovered the loose wire earthing (or not) the number plate lights. I just ran a new earth to the rear lights and that sorted quite a few things out.
It is a pig of a job when there is no logical reason to the problem.
Good luck mate.

MOTY 2013

dash earth runs to the side of the head, start there. look for any brown and brown/white ring terminals. check the gearbox earth is good and clean, also the later models have a braided earth from rocker cover to one of the coil mounting bolts this can help a dodgy dash

All sorted…..
The problem with the dash clocks is/was the plug that goes onto the dash clocks, with a little wiggle it was all sorted so must have been something not sitting correct, as for the indicators i tryed the hazard light switch half way and they worked so i guess the problem is the hazard light switch after all. I hope if people have this problem they can fix it.
Thanks guys and girls
