horn problem

had a god morning, sorted most of the electrics thad stopped working and got the engine running :dance:

but the only things that still are not working are the reverse light and the horn,

i have no power at the conector block to the horns, which could mean the fuse, is the reverse light on the same fuse?? because i have no power to the light either, if it is the fuse what number is it beacuse i cant read german and couldnt seem to be in the manual??  

anyone help me please.

Think we have had the same problem!
On some mk1's (mine and yours) both the reverse lights and horn are on the same fuse (number 9 fuse). Try this fuse, if no luck try tracing back the cable, checking for breakages!
Also, i was told to take off the centre cap on the wheel as the contact the the rear has a tendency to rust/rot away!

I also have the same problem although I have pulled the whole car apart for a refurb and found a wire disconnected from the rear of the fuse/relay board.  It is blue/black in colour and broke off at the pin connector on mine.  Haven't got to the rebuild stage yet so can't say 100% but I reckon that is the fault!!

Horn on mine was very 'hit and miss'…sometimes it worked and sometimes not…cleaned all contacts, but still a bit unreliable…Finally did the relay trick with a fused supply direct from the battery which is only switched by the feed from the horn button - works a treat.
 There's probably a thread on this with circuit diagrams etc, - might be worht a search, but it's simple enough to do anyway

yer i did check fuse number 9 looked ok, i cheaked the conections on the stering wheel but no electric there, so next stop back of the fuse box! hope its an easy fix  well thanks for the advise i will have another look at the weekend and let you know what was the problem.

i had the same trouble a few years ago and it was the earth wire coming from the streering rack. it was very brittle and old.

Had the same problem on my 1990 clipper. I got so fed up I ended up disconnecting both wires on the horn & running a wire from the ignition wire of my stereo to one of the connectors on the horn then cutting the wire that comes from the horn button which earths it when it is pressed, then joining a wire  from there to the other connector on the horn, thus only coming on with the ignition. You do only get a single tone though, but when you've had no horn at all, any tone will do. Yeah I know it's a dodgy fix but you can put an in-line fuse in for peace of mind.
