Horn not working!

Morning,

Sadly my car is fitted with an aftermarket steering wheel (Astrali i think) and the actual horn button has broken on the wheel.

Anyway to cut a long story short, i bought a new momo wheel and need to fit it, but i need some help with the wiring.

I tested the horn itsely by making an earth from the horn terminal and the horn works. If i understand it, the horn is on the same fuse as the handbrake light and that is working.

Anyway, the steering wheel boss comes with one wire which seems to contact to the steering column, but is this the earth lead or a live? If this is the live, do i need to find another earth to connect to the horn button as well.

BASICALLY - Yes! :wink:

I had the same problem and there is no way of doing in cause you need a earth wire from the colum to wheel.All i did was move it and had a seprate button from maplins for the horn. :wink:

I actually managed to solve the problem by filing down an old steel ring that i found and mounting that behind the steering wheel so that is made an earth with the column. It wasn't easy but it seems to work and not grate when i turn the wheel. I also double checked that the steering column earth lead was secure as mine was not even attached to the chassis!!
