heater
hey guys,
the best thing ever just happened 8O my heater stopped working, and i know you all know, today is the coldest day yet!!! basically, in the morning it was making a whirring sound, i thought it was something else (sounded like the cambelt hitting something or waterpump) so i stopped and checked the noise and as soon as i popped the bonnet it stopped so hey, went to college didnt use the heater on the way back (actually i did but i didnt notice it wasnt working) just got in the car turned the heater on that noise came, figured it was the heater so i decided not to use it, on the way home just now i tried it as soon as i got home, and now nothing…no heater…sorry for the long post guys, any ideas? too dark/cold to take a good look atm…

If it sounds rattly then it could be the motor - usually the switch goes, but you can usually tell this if the fan only works on the highest setting.
It could also have got wet - do you keep your car outside? If so, have a look at the scuttle panel and see if there's any water in there - if there is check the rubber drains at either end to make sure they're clear, as they usually clog up.

its not that becase i was having problems with water getting in so i cleared them like last week, the plastic scuttle tray is intact too so it isnt wet, and it doesnt work on first second or third, but iv noticed, whilst im driving it stil blows hot air in as it would if it was turned off (when it was still working) if you get what im saying

sounds bit like the motors trying to seize up,
soak it in a bucket of oil overnight,
or get a new/ second hand one and soak it in oil overnight.

If you need to get it under cover so you can work on it, let me know. I can't leave my baby out overnight but you're welcome to the garage for a day at the weekend!
