heater system - no hot air blowing out.
on the 83 plate mk1, when the system is switched to 2/3 you can feel the air blowing out, but its cold! not very good for the cold morning. I drove the car for a hour, but still was cold.
Is it not blowing hot air out, because the matrix has gone?
cheers

check the valve first. Right hand side engine bay, towards rear, has a cable connected - cable operates a lever that opens and closes the valve. Probably the cable is disconnected. You will only get hot air at your feet and windscreen - side vents designed to only provide fresh air.
Valve is located at position 16 in the following:

They don't have to! I modified my heater box to blow warm air through the side vents, or cold air when heaters off….much nicer in these cold mornings, gives warm air on your hands (right hand only unless you do my other mod of adding a centre dash vent!) - posted pics of the mod ages ago, can't believe everyone hasn't done it!

Can't work out how to do a link thingy, so will try to bump my old post on this for you to try.
Should be headed 'Top tips for warm hands this Winter" - I've tidied the dash fitting a bit since
