My 86 cabriolet, has been stored in my garage since the summer, its a dliitle damp on there.
She starts on the button the problem, but Ive noticed that the dash illumination has stopped, the dippee headlights only switch on via the foglights switch, and the indicators do not work (the light on the dash illumintaes and stays on, but they work from the hazard switch)
Im assuming the damp has involved somewhere, but I really dont know where to start!!

I'd be silly first: Whip the switches out (A screwdriver between the plug body and switch body to lever saves the switches falling apart - careful not to short the pins out doing that if the battery's still connected!) then squirt WD40 inside and pop them on a radiator for a bit.
Re-fit and see what happens.
I'd go for earths next, but not sure which to tell you to look at(!)

have you done any work on the car since summer?, sounds strange indeed. It's difficult to plug the wrong connector into the wrong switch, but could this be the case? try switching the switches on & off a few times in rapid succession, plus from what I've just learn't the inner grill lights could be wired to the fog switch, thus you may be getting a back track feed through the switch, possibly due to an earth cable coming off or breaking etc?
