Getting to the ignition switch?

My manual does cover this but it is a little vague :?

i havnt started yet so it might be really easy but it mentions getting the indicator cancelling lugs back perfectly and drilling a hole in the ignition barrel! 8O

is this an easy job? and fiddly to get back right?
