FUEL PUMP RELAY AGAIN
hi all,
2 questions
1. should the fuel pump prime everytime before cranking the engine?
2. and also which two relay terminals are the ones to bridge when testing?
(i have 31, 30, 15, 31b and 87)
cheers

Some relays do prime everytime and some don't. Not a reason in itself to be concerned. Mine doesn't now I have replaced it but the old one did…???
As for the number I can't remeber but it is the two on the left and right. One is horizontal, the other vertical, the two biggest wires going in (the two biggest terminals on the relay).
Have a search for prowler AND injector AND test to find out…

been reading some other posts, some good info there chris b has a fuel pump delivery test which is really comprehensive it can be found here for my own reference and anyone elses cheers chris

i seem to get the impression that the priming only occurs if the fuel pressure is lower than normal
cheers

pump relay
dont know if this helps but the two vag fuel pump relays i have come across have both had 62 written on the front of them,
you should have 5 slots ( where the pins on the relay attach to on the fuseboard )two which are bigger than the rest one going horizontal , one vertical ( nos 2 and 3 ) this are the two you use to bypass the relay ( dont forget the 5 amp switch to operate the pump )
good luck

5 amp switch
you need two bits of wire wire spades at one end ( to connect to fuseboard ) and at the other end you will need a switch to turn it on and off, a 5 amp one preferably

To do it "properly" you do but I have never had any issues just bridging the two terminals with a wire…
