Front Wiper Mechanism

Hello People!
When i got my car the front wipers didn't work at all, i assumed it was the mechanism so i got another mechanism and i have plugged this in and just tried to operate them from the stalk but still nothing??
Could it be a fuse or anyone else got any ideas??

wipers have been a problem on my wifes car. intermittantly not squirting water and only squirtin when the stalk is in the intermittant position. and the rear wiper only works on vary rare occasions. would be interested in know what causes these faults. appologies for thread hi-jackin  :wink:

I remember taking the steering wheel off and cleaning and tightening all the switch contacts, when I first got the car. Had the wipers and washers operating properly after that.
