Fitting an ammeter
I've got a mk1 cab 1.6gl that came with Sunpro Ammeter, as well as oil pressure gauge, and vacuum gauge, none of which were connected/plumbed in, never have been by the looks of it?
Can anyone tell me firstly what exactly is the difference is between an ammeter and voltmeter? and secondly how to connect it? i believe it should go between the starter and alternator?

The difference is
Your Voltmeter measures the amount of 'Electrical force' you battery is producing and this should be wired in parellel to your battery.
You Ammeter measure the ammount of electrical current your engine/audio etc is drawing from the battery and this should be connected in series with your battery and can be fitted anywhere within the starting/charging circuit (if thats what you want to measure).
Why you need an ammeter I have no idea, there was one in my car when I bought it, soon gone lol
