Howzit there guys!!! i own a 1982 Golf MK1 1100 GL and i have been having some serous electrical problems with my lights every couple of days while its on at night it will just start flicking n go off then i use the bright lights and after a while that also stops working and im talking only about the lights in the front i went to a auto electrician to many times they say theres a short some where and i should re wire the whole car i cant do that it's to expensive let me tell you about the car. When i bought it there was never a back wiper switch the inside light has always been broken but now its only after a year that the head lights have been giving me a problem and you know where you put the indicators on under there theres three switches but they all just there theres no wires behind them they just dummies. PLEASE HELP!!!!

it could be a your altinator is not charging your battery, properly, clean all of your conections from your battery to your altinator, including your earth from the battery to the chassis, also clea your connections to your bulbs, see if this makes a difference, you could also do a continuity tes on your head light wiring, but try the first sugestion first.

Not sure about the wiring of the smaller engine Mk1's but I'd also check your fuse box, connections to the back of it and the fuses, make sure all the contacts are clean and a nice fit

Hi,  TSR Do a replacement loom for ?117 i think, mite be worthwhile if u dont get anywhere
