Electric aerial wiring?
I'm about to install a new aerial onto my MK1 and was unsure if my stereo(blaupunkt cd headunit) can power one. I assume that when you turn the stereo off it retains power for a few seconds to put the aerial down? If it doesn't have the wires I assume I could connect a switch to the wires supplied with the aerial to power it?
Thanks
Rich

earth (probably black)
permanent live (probably red)
live when radio on (probaby green or blue)
You'd need to connect the permanent live to a fused live, which stays on even with the ignition off. An example could be the cigarette lighter, or you could poke around the rear of the fuse box and test the spare terminals on it (that's what I did to find a +12V for my amp). Don't forget to fit an inline fuse in it, these are obtainable from car accessory shops, etc.
The other wire would connect to an equivalent wire on your stereo. I'm surprised its not labelled, either on the wire itself or perhaps a sticker on the body of the stereo. You might have to search around for the instruction manual, though.
