Early G1 dash conversion help pls

help please…I've replaced my early type dash with the later version dash. The problem is that the clock of the newer dash would not work i.e. the mph counter but the rev counter still working fine. I've found that the linkage from the car to the clock would not fit the the newer clock. A bits hard to explain really ops:

You probably need to get a new speedo cable that fits the new dash clocks. You'll have to keep the cog on the end of it that fits into the gear box though.
