ok just been reading through some threds about indicators not working. i think this is a differnt problem. mine were working fine then they just stopped working.
now this is the tricky bit the green light remains lit on the dash but the lights done blink on and off but if i turn the indicators on the green light goes brighter but still doesnt blink on and off. also the hazard lights work fine and you can hear the relay working and the green light blinks on and off on the dash. HELP please

Sounds like the fuse to me. I had exactly the same issue last summer. Check the fuse in fact just change it. Mine looked okay but upon changing it all came good.

Check this post from me last summer, no more info but it proves it's probably the fuse, no guarantees though, I'm usually wrong.

Bad news I'm afraid, I didn't get as far as messing with the earth wires, the fuses fixed mine.
Sorry

looks like the earth to me. . . check it, dont know where it is, but there is a few behind inthe dash they could have possibly damaged the wire, melted it causing it to short?

I had exactly the same problem you are having and tried everything mentioned including new relay and fuses. I bought a brand new switch and everything now works fine. Make sure all the wires from the back of the hazard switch are wired correctly as I beleive the indicators are wired through the hazard switch. When I took my dash trim out this was the start of the problem as the hazard switch fell apart.
