3 bulbs and you have to take the clocks out to replace them . All 3 blown ? Rare , but if as you say the heater light dims then ? You need to check you have illumination power to the clocks before you rip out the dash , check my sticky above here for wiring to the clocks , you need to check illumination power when lights on . Power to clocks ? Replace bulbs . No power reverse check for problem .

Update.
I took the dash surround out as its cracked to get a replacement one.
Now my warning light re temp flashes,
if i put the car on full beam it stops the light flashing, the rev counter dies and the clock switches off.
Getting fed up with it now, all i did was take the hosuing off, notthing more, not touched the wiring.
Not going billing now as im worried about the temp light flashing. until thats fixed my car aint going knowhere and the mechanic is busy all week.

Nath, it's nothing more serious than bad connection on the multiplug for the dash clocks or bad earth. Try disconnecting the plugs and reconnecting them, mine occasionally does the flashing temperature light thing then kills the rev counter when the lights are turned on, bring to Billing for fixing

The earth on the rocker cover is the first place I'd check every time with those symptoms. It should be a brown wire that fixes to the rear right (as you look into the engine bay) stud. If its not there then it could have fallen down inside the bay.

The indicators not working is a fuse, mine reguarly blows whenever I play behind the dash.
As Dano said, check the little earth wire at the rear right hand side of the rocker cover.
I've driven to Santa Pod and back with the temperature gauge wandering up and down and light flashing etc

The earth wire goes into the loom and through the bulkhead. Don't know from there. Sorry.
