Cold Start Injector, thermo switch

Where is it? I think I found it and it's not connected, had a look for a wire going spare but only found one connected directly to the engine block, Brown/white i think.

Why am I looking because the car takes numorous cranks to start when cold, fine after that :dontknow:

If you have your haynes handy please help :D

Hi m8
Cold start injector is located on the far right of the inlet manifold and the thermotime switch is at the end of the top radiator, both should have blue plugs, but iam unsure of the colour of the wires

far right

Only if you are looking at the engine standing on your roof.

I tend to find it on the left of the inlet manifold.

As for the original question, I would stake my last can of beer that the cold start injector isn't your problem.

I have had mine unplugged for a year now because if they go funny they can muck up warm starting.

Anway theres lots of info already on the forum if you give it a good search.

A pseudo mechanism?

Must be a later cab thing, never seen a sender over the inlet manifold! darned fangled cars.

Lack of a reliable partner?

Excessive cranking is bad electrics or injectors dripping fuel and flooding the engine.

Great I have extras

I don't think it''s extra fuel as a little throttle helps! must be wires. I do need to clean up connections as they are looking a little coroded, the wash motor stopped  because of poor connections, so there may be more. In the last service by P.O. it had new fuel lines and a new pump, so all should be well there hopefully.

I've got a haynes manual comming, so all maybe rrevealed soon  :D

New HT leads, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm should sort you out.

Can do it all yourself aswell. Just be patient and get the leads back in the same order you take them off.

Theres plenty of posts on this stuff use the search function.

You'll be sorted for the winter then.

I think that the mk2s had a thermostat there, which cut in if the head overheated after the engine was switched off.  There was also a timer that would stop it after 10 minutes or so. :D

Ah a few more things to check, the dizzy cap and rotoe arm has been replace recently, I haven't check the plugs yet, it does start consistently though just a little long. I will check plugs soon and when the haynes manual i bought turn up from ebay I will dig deeper.

The sensor thing sounds feasable but can't find an un-attached wire any where. which way round does it sense to hot open or closed, would explain if the other wire shown has been tied to ground to bypass it.
