Clocks

I've got a couple of sets of clocks spare at the moment which I want to get rid of (sorry, I already have buyers).  They've been sitting around for the past year so I want to test them before sending them out.  Anyone know how I can do this without ripping out my own dashboard and swapping wires and tubes.

Cheers

You can test the speedo with a variable speed electric drill and a square-headed bit of the right size - but spin it slowly or you'll break something.

You might get the econometer needle to move by sucking on the end of a pipe atached to the relevant nipple on the back.

You can check dash illumination bulbs by looking at them or using a multimeter.

For pretty much everything else you're going to need to swap dashes;

  • MFA
  • Rev counter
  • Coolant temp
  • Coolant level
  • Oil light
  • Battery light
  • Full beam light

Look on the bright side - you only have to undo a few screws, connect one multiplug, one speedo cable and one vacuum pipe  :roll:

Was hoping not to have to go for the swap but looks like the only option.  One small prob though… the car is dead at the moment.  Think I know how to bring it back to life but I think its going to be a very busy weekend!

Thanks for you help.
