clickety clack! won't start!

Okay!! Been out tonight and decided to run new wires and relay circuit for the horn as advised by some members on her.

Horn works great - effectively a totally independant circuit to the rest of the car. Wired via an inline fuse to the battery.

Great.

But when i tried to start the car to put it back in the garage properly it wouldn't! :banghead:

I've tried to retrace what i've done but know i've not touched (knowingly) andy of the original circuit. :dontknow:

When the key is turned in the ignition it kind fo turns over. it's not sluggish or anything. but i just hear loads of relay/solenoid? clicking and the oil pressure light on the dash flickers probably at a rate of about 3-4 clicks per second.

but it doesn't start. hmmm???

Could i have incidentally disturbed one of the wires in the stalk control/ignition housing??

the car normally starts first time everytime!

Any advice welcome!!

when you connected the fuse to the battery have you disturbed or not tightened the battery lead? sounds like symptoms of bad connection at battery

Thanks for your reply.

I have now sorted the problem and i think this should be put in the sticky.

All that effort, tracing, unplugging, rejoining, cleaning and generally messing about trying to find out what was clicking. I removed the started and give it a good clean. Removed the solenoid and re greased and de mucked it. Put it all back on. Checked all the earths (made some temporary ones out of some jump leads).

Do you know what it was in the end???…..

Flat friggin battery due to me leaving the parking and interior lights on.

Charged the battery on a trickle charge and EVERYTHING works!!

I bet no one would have thought of that!
