Changed the bulbs in the dash - still dim....why!?
Hi Everyone
I went out and bought a set of very bright white LEDs to replace the bulbs in my dash - took the whole lot out and found that it looks virtually the same….what could be the problem?
I adjusted the wheel on the right which is the dimmer and it either goes very very dim or just dim… Is there any way around this?
thanks
Alex

I changed my bulbs about a year ago and although better than before they are still pretty dull compared to a modern car.

Stupid reply but may be worth it.
try moving the dimmer back and forth lots of times,it may clean the contacts?I noticed my contacts were very tarnished when i just had the switch apart
Silly but worth 10 seconds of your time
Poor earth contact?

The standard bulbs are 1.2W. There is a 2W bulb available from VW. I used these and my dash is fine. Not quite as bright as a modern dash, but good enough.
