burnt electric wires

hello all

been having a few electrical problems. everything came to a head last week when smoke started coming out of hole where radio goes. looked down hole to see  a nice red glow! removed dash to find  quite a few melted wires and a slightly melted headlamp switch!  i have got a dash loom off a friend to replace but the clocks he had in his  which did not work correctly were VDO mine are MOTOMETER. will the loom work both sets of clocks? as everbody when looking for replacement clocks always seem to state which ones they want.

you get two different types of headlight switch the pins are diff at the back it took me weeks to get one as my loom went on fire these ones dont fit the loom so just check mate
