Brake light switch*

I've amended this thread, I hope that's okay! I've identified that it's probably the switch so bought one from eurocar this morning on the way to work. As usual it will probably need to be slightly modified to fit as the plunger switch is about half the length of the OEM item. :dontknow:
Question is I assume the switch should never get hot! The old one was almost too hot to hold on to. Could this be why it blew the fuse? It was just taking too much power!
Sorry to go on, I suppose I'll just have to suck it and see when I get home tonight. I just that I hate electrics.
