alternater
will a diesel battery and alternater of a late 1.6 fit on my 1.8 gti had lots of power issues recently and thought the extra might help

get a 90amp alternator and a 80 amp hour battery, unless you have mega stereo stuff? your limited on battery size in a mk1 anyway, as long as the alternator is working properly you should have no charge issues and a bigger battery wont help if the charge rate is no good
the early mk2 gti & 16v`s had 90 amp alternators from memory, not sure if mk3 ones will fit as the pulley and mount may be different?????

Mk2 16V alternators do not fit the Mk1 (basically, 16V component is a different shape to the 8V one, due to the very different inlet manifold). AFAIK the Mk3 pulley is completely different.

The pulleys are interchangeable. I got a 90A one from a 1.8 Passat.

only running at 13v both of them put on another and no differance we used to fit diesal ones on the xr and rs escorts when running dtereo gear
