Sounds like a dodgy ignition switch - a common issue.

1) Remove steering wheel/stalk cover (The 2 plastic pieces) with 2 screws/nuts
2) Undo steering wheel and steering wheel nut
3) Remove 3 screws that secure stalks + Stalks
4) Remove Black rubber/plastice steering 'boss', use large flat bladed or butter knife, (anything large flat and metal to prise it off)
5) Undo/Loosen Allen key to ignition and pull off steering column
also amongst that is disconnecting the plugs and wires to the stalks/igniton column.
I think thats all there is to it, not sure if you can seperate the ignition switch from the column part itself, but I do have a spare switch section, so it must be possible in some way, although maybe not without destroying the steering lock section.
Should only take about 30mins.
