(TITLE CHANGED)how do i get to the ignition switch?

can any explain the circuit from ignition to energising coil for the solonode (on top of starter motor)
i assume there will be a relay somewhere???  (where?)

mine starts fine most days but sometimes is totally dead :x ! i get ard this by shorting out batt plus to top connection on solonode then it turns over n fires, (i have to time it right with the clifford alarm or it just turns n turns n turns lol)

or does any know were i can find a elec schematic for a H plate Rivage????

thx  :D

There is no relay

Sounds like a dodgy ignition switch - a common issue.

TA, RIGHT IVE JUST STRIPPED DOWN THE STEERING COLOUM, and just found lots of plugs. saw the larger two wires that plug into the barrel (red/red stripe) think these are to two i'm after, but a cant get into the barrel itself (where the contacts must be) do i have to remove and replace the whole barrel/bearing housing as this is all 1 thing?? or can i get in to the little plate on the side of it, tried but failed!!

i undid the allen bolt that secures it ard the coloum but cant get it of!!

From what I remember it goes something like this.

1) Remove steering wheel/stalk cover  (The 2 plastic pieces) with 2 screws/nuts

2) Undo steering wheel and steering wheel nut

3) Remove 3 screws that secure stalks + Stalks

4) Remove Black rubber/plastice steering 'boss', use large flat bladed or butter knife, (anything large flat and metal to prise it off)

5) Undo/Loosen Allen key to ignition and pull off steering column

also amongst that is disconnecting the plugs and wires to the stalks/igniton column.

I think thats all there is to it, not sure if you can seperate the ignition switch from the column part itself, but I do have a spare switch section, so it must be possible in some way, although maybe not without destroying the steering lock section.

Should only take about 30mins.
