Diesel engine

I have just bought a mk1, pictures in the New members section.
Its a 1.5 diesel, or was, there is no engine and box as they were scraped.

I have worked on several other vws including Sciroccos (including fitting a diesel engine into a friends. I'm not proud of my past!) and mk2s but this is a bit earlies than I'm used to, so hoping for some answeres about replacement options.

I would love to go back to standard and find a 1.5 diesel but I think this may be a tall order I can't find much information on them. Anybody out there got one?

 My other option is to fit the 1.6 turbo diesel I have in the garage. This leaves me with gearbox isues. what to use and where to find them. With a change of flywheel I know the engine will fit a mk2 5 speed box but what is then involved in getting it into a 4 speed car?
