so I'm intrigued as to what you all use to wash/wax/detail etc etc your cars. Do you stick to one brand or do you mix n match?
Personally I have always used autoglym stuff as I find it does the job. Howev I have never tried to clay bar etc my car and have to admit I have a meguiars clay bar kit for that!
Just intrigued as as to what other members use and prefer?

I've used Autoglym for years too, I do like their products. Wax I use is Collonite.
I do think there is a difference in products quality but a lot is just down to personal preference.
I did recently buy a clay bar for first time every to sort my 944 out before selling but in the end a mate did it for me so it's still in the wrapper waiting to be used!
I have to say though the difference he made by claying and then machine polishing was unreal, looked like new paint.
Another mate recommended I used this before claying;
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_804711_langId_-1_categoryId_255233
It removes all old polish, wax etc ready for clay and polish. Needless to say you've got to polish/wax to protect paint after doing this. If the weather holds out I'll be doing a full job on my MK2 soon
Cheers

I've used autoglym since having my caddy van but just intrigued as to people's opinions and what is used. So much out there and could happily spend a fortune on cleaning especially when a 'quick wash' turns into an 8 hour cleaning marathon

I'm looking for a bit if advice tbh first, I'm going to have to run the car through winter (not ideal I know but I don't have much choice) I hopefully, won't have to use it everyday but it is going to get used.
I want to protect it as much as poss from all the muck that gets sprayed onto the roads.
What's the best thing to do? I was thinking of waxoyling the underneath (never used it before I'll be honest) is that a good thing to do?
What would you recommend doing to protect the car as much as possible (short of parking it up)
If you can link to anything on your site I'd be grateful!
Cheers dude

Hi Buddy,
In all honestly I don't know much about Waxyoyling hopefully someone else can help you with that one.
As for the paintwork I can defiantly recommend Collinite 476s. This wax is very durable and can give you around 5-6 months of protection if used on a properly prepared surface (for example clayed, de-tared & polished)
Just go careful not to leave it on the paintwork for too long to haze up as it can set quickly and be a pain to remove. Probably best to do a few panels at a time.
It can be purchased here http://www.shopnshine.co.uk/collinite-no-476s-super-doublecoat-paste-wax-9fl-oz
Depending on how much you love your wheels you can also seal them with some Poorboys Wheel Sealant http://www.shopnshine.co.uk/poorboys-wheel-sealant
Hope this helps

Certainly does! Top man! Right so to star with I need to get it all nice and clean etc I've got a meguiars clay bar kit and have got their premium polish. To sound really stupid de tarring? To me that contours up gettin the lil bottle of autoglym tar and insect remover….. Or is there more to it?
Think wheels would be a good idea too!
Cheers mucker!
Yes basically to remove all the tar, It's not a nescessity but one it improves the look, two makes waxing much easier.
Wheels are a good idea as they really take a beating in the winter.
If you need a tar remover we have this
