Hi,
I'm looking to give my brake servo a spruce up and want to give it a respray but unsure how to tackle it i.e how many coats of primer and top coat etc.
Would satin black be the closest to original look. Also, should I use high temp paint?
thanks in advance

I give mine a good clean and rub down mate and then sprayed it with black high temp paint. Not a show winning result but I was happy with it.

Likewise I'm not after a show winning finish just a tidy up.
Has your paint finish been durable despite the use of a primer?

TBH mate my MK1 is off the road at the moment having a 20v conversion done so it hasn't been used
All I can tell you is it has been fitted and has sat in a garage for a while and it still looks the same

Hi
I wire brushed mine down and then sand papered it with various grades to get a decent smooth finish.
I then painted it with anti rust paint and left it, then I paint prepped it, used Halfords grey primer for a couple of coats and then Halfords matt black spray paint.
It has come up great and it has bben sitting OFF the car for a year now and its still spot on.
I had done another servo and linkage the same way but used brush hammerite, which is currently on my car and it looks ok but its not the same smooth finish as the rattle can and better prep that I did the 2nd time.
I will put the better refurbed one on later this year when I get the time or money.

Thanks for the input guys.
Massbad69 : mine was that corroded before I started sanding it down today. Labour-some job but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.
Ive decided to go for Hammerite satin black but undecided if I should use a primer before as the instructions on the Hammerite say there is no need.

I never prime red before Hammerite but I did use the rust inhibitor iirc

No need for primer with Hammerite.
Mines a lot better in the flesh, it looks dull but that mark by the cable is a reflection!

That finish looks spot on. If I can get mine to that standard I'll be happy.chrissy said
I gave mine a good rub down then primed with Eastwood rust encapsulator then top coat with Eastwood underhood black. Finish is very close to OEM

I started sanding mine down using quite a course grit sandpaper as there was some stubborn corrosion (especially where the two halves of the servo are joined/crimped) and am gradually going finer. I'm fairly happy with the progress but need apply a bit more elbow grease!
Do you guys just use a generic degreaser or anything in particular?
Thanks again
