So
1. Does anyone recommend any good kits to zinc plate at home.
2. Is zinc plating corrosive resistant enough for an engine bag or is another type better like yellow zinc coating or blackening etc?
3. Alternator etc, once grit blasted can i just laquer it to keep looking more like the orginial finish.
A few questions but any help is appreciated

Get your aluminium parts vapour blasted for a satin finish. Personally i have never laquared ali as paint doesn't stick to it long term without an etch primer and it will look worse when half of it peels off. Better off just leaving it to the elements with regular coatings of WD40 or another form of corrosion inhibitor. Your zinc parts the same. better off with an inhibitor.

Who knows it my keep me sane and busy if the pubs stay closed longer haha.
Luckly i have a tonne of old metal i can plate to practice on first and a shot blaster at work to prep it but thanks for the advice. The aluminium is one thing that i feel is hard to keep looking oem without just leaving it to the elements. Sprayed some bits that look good but time will tell.

Same for aluminium bits, I left gearbox and head in raw finish.

Specialist will be able to do a much nicer finish but i cant be going down there every other week with a slack handfull of bits, but each to their own i guess
