Manila green?

Post

Hi all

I'm considering a full paint job on my 76' mk1. The color Manila green l63y is tempting, but it's a bit too light and pastel looking for my taste. Does anyone know what color is on the Passat B1 in the picture? Seem a bit darker than the Manila green in the other picture

On second thought they look fairly similar when viewed side by side.. Still not 100% convinced though..

Manila is the only shade of green I'd ever choose to shoot over a mk1.

No other original shade of green comes close for me.

If the colour code you have for it is the correct one and you're keeping the car original then stay with that or it will cost you a lot in value.

But if your plans are to mod the heck out of it, who cares?
Go with whatever floats your boat, it's your Mk1 and no one else's! 😉 👍🏼

Thanks for the input.. The orginal color is Bronze Metallic L95D, and it definately has it's charm too. I'm going to keep it original no lowering and such, and will use an original VW color. Previous owner painted it 10 years ago but did a horrible job.. Gonna do it right this time!

What is stated in the V5, the original color or the new one?
Because if it's the original I'd be very tempted to go back to that.

Money is not everything I know but as it's such an early Mk1 it would make a substantial difference, I'd stick my neck out and say 30%.

No matter how good the paint job is if it's not what the car was originally it means technically it's been 'Modified' even if it states the new one in the V5.

No the Bronze L95D is the original color, the previous owner did a respray but did a lousy job with the preparation. Some rust bubbles have started to appear, and the a-pillars have been repaired and resprayed once again with a spray can. The car has been owned by the previous owners mother in law, with only 88000km/55k miles on it (documented), so I'm thinking it's worth a professional paint job. Not sure why a respray in the original color would matter though in regards to the value, do you mean that I could claim that it hasn't been resprayed? I would have a full body paint anyway so old color wouldn't be visible..

Ah didn't read the last sentence, it's true it would technically be modified. Anyway I'm having a difficult time deciding colors, so I might go for the original ultra 70's brown..
