i have a cream soft top there is a couple of black marks on it tried good old fashion cleaning it but still there any good tips

Depends on what the black marks are?  Try using some all purpose cleaner (APC) and an old toothbrush to gently work at it.  I use Autosmart APC for cleaning almost everything to do with the car or home.  You can dilute it for various things or use it neat as well.
