Which paint to use?> on gearbox engine etc
just wanted to know which Hammerite paint is best, hammered or smooth and will it be ok to use on the block>?
as i have heard people use hammerite with 2 coats and they have said its fine?
any thoughts?

I have just painted my callipers and carriers the same was and covered it a treat.
Everyone is different and unless your stripping and either anodising or powder coating this is a good way as long as you prep correctly

Just one more thing, with hammerite, if you paint 1 coat is it easy to smooth out with wet and dry after its hardened and dried?

Why would you want to do that to a top coat of hammershite?
Its a bodge paint to cover rusty iron railings!

I used Watco Rust Stop paint on lots of parts and its worked very well. They also do a great product called Primebase which is a strong rust convertor to put on first.
