Good detailing tips request
After changing my mind about selling the Golf last year, I've put it back on the market and hoping to sell it soon. I gave it a quick vacuum and wash the other day, and I was amazed just how much tar and little spots of rust I could get off the paintwork with some elbow grease.
Inspired, I cleaned the vinyl roof and it came up a treat, tried to get all remnants of dust out of vents and between plastic bits on the dash etc., and of course did the windows.
I've probably missed some really easy things to make the car look more impressive though. For example, the wheels look terrible.
So, who has some simple detailing tips? Wheels, interior, exterior - all good.

Clay bar! Brings paint out a lot better and smoother like glass, removes the fallout in the paint so you polish/wax only good paint.
Them wheels are gunna need a good coat of looking at though.

claying should only be done if you know what your doing otherwise you can cause marring on the paint worse than the fallout…. providing you use plenty of diluted shampoo to keep the panels wet you should be ok.
Wd40 is great for removing tar - spray on, leave to dwell & watch the tar dilute followed by a wipe down with a microfibre cloth
For hand polishing autoglym super resin polish gets best results & I personally get on really well with collonite 476 as a good durable wax

No it isnt but rubbing a dry patch of panel and you will do well to hand polish out the marred paint.
It's no miracle product, one small piece of grit in it & you can wind up dragging it all over your paintwork.

Thanks guys - this is all good to know. Any instructions will be in French so it's good to get the low-down in English. Top tip about WD-40! Anything that saves my girly arms from rubbing is a bonus. I think I'll start with that one and see how the panels come up.
