Bumper Black

Hi,

The show season is nearly here. I was wondering what people use to get their bumpers black ?

I have used the Autoglym Bumper and Trim Gel for years. It looks great after application but only lasts about a week. It is also greasy and messy.

A few years back I 'invested' in some Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer. This worked great for about 6 months. Considering the cost I won't be doing it again. It has lasted very well on my SAAB though.

So what do people use ? Any good products out there or should I just buy more AutoGlym ?

Don't fancy trying peanut butter by the way !

I have autoglym stuff that works very well on my valet customers cars. 

In the past I've used boiled linseed oil, that's very cheap, and also very very good. 

I use the Autoglym as well, I've found once you put it on use another cloth and really buff it up as I've found it seems to stay on a little longer.
My bumpers on the Mk1 Scirocco are turning quite grey now so this summer I'm trying the heat gun method as well as autoglym but you have to be careful not the melt the bumper and I've read you can only do this method once in a long time as it brings the oil out of the bumper.

Forever Black is a trim dye which I've used for a lot of my trims and it's excellent. It's not a dressing like Autoglym etc, it actually dyes the plastic black again.

Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care is for interior AND exterior plastics. It is not sticky and thick like their Bumper Care and though it lasts a little less on the exterior it brings it up really well and looks more natural.

I have been using Meguiar's Ultimate Plastic restore for a while now. Everytime i use it, the plastic parts look great again !

Auto Finesse revive is great stuff!

A cheapish but weird fix, Peanut Butter, straight from the jar rubbed over the trim, buff off. I was sceptical but it works.

I have seen a heat gun used to restore the original black colour to now faded trim items (bumpers, spats, etc.)
Anyone on here tried that?  I have been meaning to give it a go myself but haven't had the time yet!
