VW Heritage sell one but I've never seen one so can't comment on the quality. 

Have you tried German eBay? There's a recovered one on there at the moment which has a few days left. Type in "Golf 1 Hutablage" and it should come up. 

VW Heritage ones are a bit out of budget at the moment. Found the one on german eBay but struggled to translate it but thanks for your help

You will have to pay towards that amount for a decent shelf to be honest mate. 

In regards to the German i don't have a clue to speak the language either. I just copy and paste into google to translate!
