Mk1 Tintop Brake Pre-Pressure Valve
I accidentally lost mine somewhere along the way! I'm having to go with aftermarket equivalents but they don't look the same.
These are the ones I'm going to use: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brake-Residual-Pressure-Valve-Kit-Car-Rally-Drift-DRUM-Race-Performance-10-PSI/182187536192?epid=2059077822&hash=item2a6b392f40:g:sgAAAOSwq19XDReF
Guess you could always paint them gold…

I think I have a spare in the garage, ill have a look when I get 5 mins
Edit, I have one. Its either from a hardtop gti that I broke back in 2001 or the used one that I bought from crazyquiff around 2009/2010.

This one didn't turn out to be available after all so I'm still looking. Hopefully someone can help me out.

If it's 3/35 bias for drum brakes you need I believe you could use Golf mk3 valves, part 1H0698401. They are available online aftermarket

I was googling these residual valves, and found myself reading my own
erroneous reply here.. So for future reference, the residual valves are NOT the same as the later cabrio/rocco proportional valves I mentioned..
Anyway, did any of you install the 10 psi residual valves? Would you know if the original
valves were 10 psi as well?Anyway, did any of you install the 10 psi residual valves? Would you know if the original

I've used aftermarket ones, which, according to the details are rated at 10psi for drums, or 2psi for discs.
Don't know what the original ones were. It will be a while before the car is mobile enough to test it!

Yes it seems that 10 psi is the standard for drum brakes, but I’m wondering if the pressure rating matters to the regulator on the rear axle.
I will probably try them as well, and will report if there are any issues. looking at the parts catalog however, it seems to indicate that the original ones were 0.4-1.2 bar, which if correct is in the range of 10 psi at least.. Cheers
