If you do get one like this check it fits, plenty of rust protection and stone chip paint as it takes a hammering under the wheel arch

MK1 Cabrio Fuel Filler Neck
Thank you. The one that’s on there was supplied as “for cabby” but it’s a tin top version, so was a right pain and I am not making that mistake again. It also wasn’t protected against weather and stones, and I won’t be making that mistake again either. It had a “rusty fuel filler” advisory in Oct , and started leaking from high up when filling at a garage last week. Thanks for your help.

Don't get driving it in the rain as the last thing you want is water in the fuel system… get it changed as soon as you can.minety15 said

1/2 way down the page in my project thread is what I did to fit my new filler neck.

That’s brilliant thank you. I had a closer look yesterday, there are 2 definite holes at the top. I can refuel it with a can and funnel past the holes, but I take your point re: water. I imagine there are rust particles dropping into fuel too. Cheers for all your advice and help. Andy

Take the old one to somewhere that makes stainless exhausts to copy it. 304 stainless@ Worcester etc.
There are too many online users to list.
