Floor mats - OEM+

*Sorry for the missing pics guys - photobucket has killed my links - I'll get them hosted elsewhere and refresh the links* CheersI've been struggling to find good quality mats so have commissioned an auto-industry carpet and mat manufacturer to remanufacture OEM quality mats.

They are based on a genuine VW Mk1 golf mats so they are a perfect fit on the Mk1 floor pan.

I've cherry picked the best quality deep pile carpet and paired it with a matched carpet heel pad and cloth binding. The mats are soft-grip rubber backed so won't shift on the floor once fitted.

Post to Ireland's £18 but it doesn't get any more expensive to post 2 sets over, do you know anyone else over there to go halves on them and split the costs?

Post's getting really expensive, it must cost you guys in Ireland a fortune to get your parts.  

Is brown going to be available?
Ive got the biscuit kinda coloured carpet and have been looking for some mats for ages

Post up some pics of your carpet if you can. I'm at the suppliers this afternoon and can see what's available.

These are the colour samples for the blue, grey and beige. The colours look quite bright under the indoor lights and are darker in natural light.





The supplier can do brown piping on the beige, black on the grey and blue on blue. I'll have a set of blue to show this afternoon.

I got 2 sets guys and delighted with the fit and quality.

Hugh buy them mate they are spot on, get red binding on them :-)

Buy them Rich, they are well worth it even if its plain black ;-)

They can do the red piping if you want it Rich. Might take a little longer to turn around as they'd be one off sets but they can do them.  

Here's a set of blue ones I've just picked up for stefant.





I've also had a bit of confirmation on the fit in tin tops thanks to Mazza411.    They fit nicely but are slightly narrower under the pedals. I'll be looking into this and will create a new pattern so for now the mats on this thread are 100% cabby fitment.

I'll be in touch in due course. I like the thought of some with red piping…

I'll enquire about embroidered sets, what have you got in mind?  

I'm not sure if I'll be at the NEC show but I'm sure we'll be able to sort something out in the club to get them to you whilst your there.  

Hi Gav got the mats this weekend. They fit really well. The colour is good but would be better if they where a little darker, or alternatively had black trim round the outside. The light blue trim is a little too light.

Hi mate. The mats look great and I will probably have a set made. Is it possible to have the drivers foot area piece so it is divided in 3 by stitching rather than looking one piece? Will the piping be in vinyl? Could you look into getting a vw plastic badge that is attatched to the mat? I have these on my mk2 golf and it gives a real quality look.Its just a small plastic black vw badge. It is fixed with a backing plate. I recon you could get this from somewhere. Also  am after the carpet/fabric that goes on the parcel shelf that is as near to the original. I would also need enough to do the boot lining.Can you find out if the place has some I could buy? It needs to be black. Thanks mate. Where about are you based in case I wanted to collect?

Jaz, I can only do the sets as detailed above. The ones in your Mk2 sound like the original VW mats. I'm not trying to directly replicate the original mats here, just offering something that's good quality and that's a good fit.

Ok mate. I sold my mk2 but kept the mats. I dont think they are an original as they were bought new. I have had a look at the badge and all it is has is 2 plastic pins at the back that fit into a back place to secure it. All I would need to do is make 2 small holes in the new mats from you and fix the vw badge. I think it gives it a more quality look. Also you did not answer my question about the carpet/ fabric the parcel shelf is made of. I need to find a material that closely replicates the original. I think it will be the same as the mat material or very similar. Thanks

Did you find out if the mats fit a hatchback Golf? Also will the cabbie mats fit ALL models of ALL years? The reason why I am asking is that I was looking on Ebay for Mk1 cabbie mats, but in the list it showed that they only fitted up to 1983. My Golf is a 1984. Why would later models have a different floor space? Also some of them on Ebay had holes in them for the front mats. I assume these are to hook over plastic lugs that some carpets have in order to keep the mats in place and not move with the feet. I did not think that MK1 Golf carpets came with these lugs? My Golf certainly does not have them.

I bought a set of these in black of Gav and I can't fault them at all…

Are you still doing these? And are blue ones still available?

Sorry pal, I've not tracked down a good set to take a template from yet. The original mats are pretty scarce and there's a lot of poor fitting ones about.

Once I've got a good set I'll get a run of tin top ones made, @ Rich, I only have cabby mats at the moment, tin top mats to follow asap.
