Mk1 S1 Golf Driver wanted.

I'm looking for an old family car. I checked register and there could be a slim possibility of it being in someone's garage or garden.
Its a 1980 Santos Green Series 1 Golf Driver. Registration HJD 911W.
I have already written to DVLA and under the data protection act we are unable to contact the current owner even though we are previous owners.
Does anyone know of it? I aim to purchase with intent to restore to factory standard.

Looked a really nice car and unusual colour.  On the DVLA site though it's not been taxed since 1999 and not showing as Sorn, but did the DVLA say there was a current owner then as I thought only cars that were last taxed prior to January 1998 were exempt from SORN.

The Colour was Santos Green and the Orignal Drivers came in this colour Mars Red and Mandarin Orange.

Fingers crossed you can find it, I'm surprised the DVLA couldn't help.

The one car I regret selling now was similar to this - a Mandarin Orange Series 1 driver. I sold it in favour of a 5 door Series 2 1.3 LS

Probably not, I imagine it was scrapped way back in 1999 when the tax ran out!
Shame cos they're a nice looking model and a rare sight nowadays!
