Want to get back in the game....
Hi All,
After quite a few years away, various VW's and a Porsche later I just can't shake the Mk1 bug.
I'm after a GTI as complete as possible but somerhing to work on.
No show winners or part projects
Let me know what you've got. I've got a budget of around £7k at the moment.

Not mine (I wouldn't do that to a poor little Golfy) but it's in your price range. It's not a Campaign so you might get a discount when you dissuade the seller of such thoughts.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Thanks!
I need to learn all the differences between models as he doesn't say anywhere that it's a fake campaign which is annoying, doesn't even say "campaign style"
Might drop him a line though…..
Thanks again!

To be a campaign it should be an A-Reg (I think!), its got a sunroof but should also have tinted glass, leather steering wheel, twin front fog grille and Pirelli alloys. It has plastic clips the hold the rear seatbelts (rear corner of rear windows) I've only ever seen these on personel imported cars, which was a big thing in the 80s.

Cool, I managed to find some info but was struggling to see in the pictures.
Also do Campaign model cars have a special chassis code or number by any chance for easy ID??

Ah-ha! Found it on here. Apparently the code should have an 'E' in it.

Campaign Checks - The Mk1 Golf Owners Club
I am not sure why there should be misinformation about what a "Campaign" is, its pretty well researched and the article is on here.

Don't think there is any confusion apart from on ebay, due to chancers trying to dupe the unwary or being totally ignorant on what they are selling

That's strikes me as a pretty decent budget especially given state of world right now. It's going to be a buyers market, you should do well.
Good luck in your search

If their interpretation of the number plate is as good as their interpretation of the car, i wouldnt trust it..
