My budget is not set in stone and will totally depend on what is on offer as too how much I'll spend. Just thought I'd pop this on here in case anyone knows of anything or has one to sell to the right person knowing it will be well looked after.
Thank you for reading.

However if not I think it was the case that if the vehicle you were planning to put your cherished number onto bore a Northern Irish number the restriction about not being allowed to make a car appear younger than it's original date of registration does not apply.
Northern Irish numbers were, and still are issued consecutively, only running out as and when the letter is used up and not bi-annually as they are in the rest of the UK.
They're therefore not deemed to be identifiers of age.
You do regularly see older vehicles on the road over here with the latest registration though that can be for a variety of reasons eg. ex-Govt stock or previously the bearer of a cherished number that was retained when sold on.
Might be worth looking into, if I'm not going senile and it's correct it might open up another avenue to get an older car than you thought possible?

If it's something like LUK 52L Then it's the last letter that determines the age, so in this case August 1972 or later car.
Something like LUK 52 can go on anything, so I presume this is what you have?

Definitely something I would consider, there is a 1980 1.6l on eBay atm on a P reg but I don't really want one with that engine. Guess I'll have to have some patienceÂ

Here is a quote from the DVLA own site. -
Conditions to put a registration number on a vehicle
You can't:
put a registration number onto a 'Q' registered vehicle
make the vehicle look newer than it is
Private (personalised) number plates: Assign a private number to a vehicle - GOV.UK

I would be very interested if this was the case and you can do this, as I have on my company car plate, RG 11ALL which when the car comes to the end of its lease I would love to go back to a private but older car - something like a RANGE ROVER , or Pheaton but don't want something as new as a 2011 car. What is stopping me at the moment us purely the fact that it needs to go on a 2011 car. If I could buy an older one in NI and bring it back home that would be excellent.

In regards to applying your personal plate to a car that already has an English plate it seems it's more to do with the format. For example a car with the reg PN56 RYZ is a standard reg and If you want you can buy a 'personal' plate that is say MK57 PBV. They both have the same format and if the 57 plate is applied it makes the car appear newer as it is not obviously a personal registration.
They tell me that my reg L4 NKV does not show any age as it is quite obviously a personal plate so it isn't a problem applying to any vehicle. They were very helpful on the phone and I got straight through, no queue. It might be worth your while clarifying. Hope this helps :-)

Any official references I've read involving NI numbers concentrate on moving an NI number onto GB registered cars (the opposite to what you want to do)
As stated, NI numbers aren't deemed to be age identifiers so in these circumstances it is permitted to transfer any NI plate onto any age of GB vehicle.
When you think about it, no one can be deceived as the NI number is ageless and therefore not misrepresenting the car as something it's not.
Number plate dealers refer to it as 'masking', the intent is to 'hide' the GB cars age, not make it appear younger.
Unfortunately I don't think this can be done the other way round, that's to say putting a younger GB plate on an older NI car.
Again when you think about it that would be deceitful, making the NI car appear younger than it really is.
To add to the confusion NI cars do get issued replacement 'later' NI numbers, but since both are ageless, again there is no potential for deceit.
Clear as mud!

this is interesting, L4 NKV is age related in my book,
Have to agree, just because it may be someones initials and it becomes a personal/private plate , its still an age related one and cannot be fitted to an older vehicle.

I asked for a name and phone call reference for proof of the conversation just incase. All provided and happy.
