i think hood bag is the term for the thing you put over the roof when its down although most people call this a tonneau cover which is infact a cover you put over the seats when roof is down? i think…..
…or maybe i just dreamt that…..

This is right.. My Dad's a trimmer, and i've spent many years earwigging conversations in his shop

Hood bag, covers the folded down hood.
Tonneau cover, mainly used on older sports cars, lets you drive with the rest of the interior covered if you want the roof down / dont have a roof!
You can also zip them up to cover the drivers side when parked if you prefer. Like this..

knowledge(given by you kind people)
I've got myself a hood bag, in the 10years
I've had my cabby I've always had the
roof down with no cover, when I seen
pics if cars with the hood covered I thought it was just an extra/styling mod.
Now my roof will be covered all times
it's down, going to keep cover in boot, thanks again

Some countries Germany for one, if you drive with the roof down you have to have it covered!

Not Austria though but of course now I've said that…..
