Nothing just went to see how the old girl is

Removed door card and tried to find out why door won't close…cant get lock mech off as the bolt has rounded. Put sportline battery on charge…ready for run out tomorrow.

Bought a shiny new manifold and other bits and pieces. Oh and cut one of the driveshafts in half

Battery charger on sportline…and quick drive about to get fluids running.
Just bought back my first mk1 cabby….. had a cat d  20yrs ago and the person I sold too decided didn't want to invest cash.. so next car…even though said had enough of cabbies. Wife is not too HAPPY. But she's hoping to spend profit if any from future resale. F199ael gti cabby sapphire silver blue. Head gasket about 500 miles ago.

Someone drove into the front Mynx yesterday so today I'll be mainly fixing a dent

It's my first cabby bought it back last weekend….cost me 800 sold it 900 bought it back 900, it's just in need of love. All the parts are there ..just roof skin and window frame required to make it pretty.

I'm not gonna break the leech..

I'm not telling wife I bought him back either

Think the alloys are fox bought from Halfords, bit scrape but look nice on the leech.

Took Jules for a spin yesterday after 3 weeks being stagnant.. hd a bit of fun with an 08 plate caddy TDI - couldn’t get passed! Hit 70ish nicely on the dual.. then eased up.. had a smile as it passed.. just a merry spin for 1/2hr or so..

  Well I removed the Ash tray/ Ciggie Lighter, as BiC lighters work well, and installed a dual Hi-charge USB socket so kids and wife can charge their devices.

I ordered a few of these.



I Pried out my Ashtray with a flat blade screw-driver.


Since it didn't quite fit


I dremeled it out a wee bit,,, about 3 seconds with a sander.


Inserted it and ran the lock nut down.



Clipped the Power and Ground connector, then the solderless connections to the wires, as it is polarized and well marked on the rear of the unit.



Works good I opted for the 2.5V units as that wouldn't interfere with the existing fuse… Glows light blue…..

I saw an owner had his cover ripped last week and saw a bargain in halfords.
Just dropped it over his car and knocked to surprise him as it's going to be a hard frost…
He wasn't a member but dropped him a flyer and said join .

Finally fitted the wind deflector.  Thanks Shughy !

Water pump removed and split down. Rear case plus other ali parts off to the anodisers this week for a good clean up.

Found the battery flat after 12 weeks of winter. So it's on charge . Then off to body shop for a quote on Monday.
Great post on seat runner plastics I'm going to need that too.

Anodised parts sounds great .
What cost are you expecting.
Will they tell you if the casting is still in good order after cleaning before coating .
Love to see that before and after shot.

For sure a good idea to have before and after. Not sure whether to have a simple sand blast and lacquer or coated some how. I am assuming they are useable but good point will ask

Technically it was yesterday but close enough,
I changed the left steering rack arm for one with an adjustable track rod end, fitted the other Audi A3 Brake Caliper and tried out various combinations of shortened wishbone and drive shaft and top mount to accommodate my 17” wheels, oh and soldered late indicator plugs on to early lamps only to find that the LED bulbs need a resistor to stop them flashing like crazy.
Overall a productive weekend
