I'm trying to trace a little bit of my car… Sonfar the only thing I know it was imported by a German guy to Chile in early 90's.
But i'm not sure if it is one of those late Golfs.
can someone help me out with the VIN number decoding:
WVWZZZ17ZDW603837
It is a LHD GTI with DX engine, has original sunroof, MFA with econometer and Recaro seats (not sure if original ones or not at least the fabric in front and rear is the same and I can tell it has never been changed)
Hope someone can help!!!
Tks

There is a sticky with Option codes etc on here.
You can apply for a V888 from the DVLA but that probably won't show any info prior to UK registration.
You could use the google search box on the upper left side of the page. This has been covered before no doubt so that may give you some ideas.
Post some pics up too.
Cheers

Made in 83 at the Wolfsburg plant in Germany.
The 603837 is just the sequential number from plant.
Contacting VWs head office in South America my help.
But the vin doesn't contain the option codes they are located elsewhere like in the hand book or as in the case with cabriolets a paper sticker in the boot.
If you find your option codes then use the option code list off here.

I believe you should have green stripped centre section seats with black outer trim.

You can work out the date of manufacture and production number for that day from the numbers on the top row (24 1 0794)
There's also a few links to other sites that'll possibly expand on that info. for you.
