Temp Gauge rises to halfway before even cranking the engine

59d51b3668876.jpg Good Day. I am the Proud Owner of a 1992 VW Golf Mk1 Type17 1.6carb (1982 Registered)

My Old Spec Clusters Temp Gauge needle starts moving to half before I have even cranked the engine. I have recently replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor that is underneath the "Flange" I believe its called, which is in front of the 3rd Spark Plug.

So to explain my problem the long way. I turn the ignition Key to the 1st position and immediately my Temperature Gauge starts to climb until it reaches halfway. The engine is Ice Cold(Not started/idled before turning Ignition Key) and the temp needle climbs on the cluster.

While driving the needle moves slighlty to the right(hotter) and to the left(colder) but never reaches the 3/4 mark(Hot) or the 1/4 mark(cold)
the temp light flashes for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on to the first position.

I have connected the Yellow wire with a red strip on the wire to a spade connector which is connected to the NEW coolant/Temp sensor. The sensor can be described as looking similar to the 2 High and Low Oil pressure sensor but with a T shape connector on the Top. Which goes underneath the Pipe/Flange? which lies in front of the 3rd Cylinder/Spark Plug

I Appreciate any and all help. I will also do my best to reply to any responses or information that you may require to completely Diagnose my issue. 1958aec5-bbcf-f1b7-36a4-475d4882cff3.jpg

I would suspect cold solder joints on the Gauge, and or a bad 10V stabilizer, the ground pin2 brown on the cluster or whonky power on pin 14 black

There are how to's on the Archive section to show oyu how to do all 3.
