Trying to get a value on my Mk1 Golf GTi Helios Blue Campaign

Post

Hi Al,

Ive been a member since 2004 and have owned several Mk1's…  My current car is a Campaign Model Helios Blue. Its sat in my garage for the last 10 years. Has all blue book, every MOT and just covered 90'000 I had it serviced at a VW main dealer about 8 years ago & its moved anywhere since. I'm contemplating selling the car it could do with a full restoration although truth be told, a good wash, new set of tyres a MOT & some little bits and it could easily be  a daily driver again.

The problem is I don't have the time or the money and Im not sure if my interest has gone now too as Im 40 years old have 3 children etc…  I wonder the best way of getting a value on the car..?  If I sell I want to get as much as I can for the car as it will be had for me to give it up & also I only want iit to go to a enthusiast who will give her the love and attention she deserves..?  These guides on line are ok but its down to interpretation..  Do anyone know any experts or classic car valuers in the Hertfordshire area please..? Or is anyone looking for a superb base project car to potentially purchase and restore.?

Thank you..

Price it high so you can always come down if you don't get any interest. The car's only worth what someone is willing to pay at the end of the day and depends what it needs and what the new owner wants to achieve with it and with what budget/capabilities.

If you have absolutely no clue to its worth then start checking out other cars for sale on ebay, gumtree, pistonheads etc etc.

The best and rarest colour, very low mileage backed up by the mot's gonna be a very high price. What does it need for mot just to get through? Post some pictures or a link as it could be 2k could be 8k

Why not 'test the market' via e Bay? online auction will establish the market value.
Add as many photos and as much info as you can and set a reserve price at the minimum you would feel happy/ comfortable to take for the car  - give it a 10 day auction - it will either fail to reach your minimum price expectations (in which case you will know you are too high), or will be sold for more than your minimum reserve price via online auction process - a good way of establishing market value and ensuring you at least get your minimum (or don't sell the car)
I have sold loads of cars via e Bay and it has always worked very well for me.
